Terms of use
Last updated: 21 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses sunitup.in. By using the website, taking the pledge, registering a community or sending us content, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the website.
1. Who we are
sunitup.in is run by Ritu Petkar, Pune, Maharashtra, India ("SUN IT UP", "we", "us"). How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy policy.
2. Health and safety
- The information, videos and guided practices on this website are for general awareness and education. They are not medical advice and don't replace advice from a doctor or qualified yoga teacher.
- Please read our Health disclaimer before you begin. If you have a medical condition, an injury, high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, have recently had surgery, or are unsure whether Surya Namaskar suits you, talk to your doctor first.
- Practise within your comfort. Use the gentler versions, Chair Surya Namaskar or sun breathing whenever you need to, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or discomfort.
- Sun safety: never look directly at the sun. Keep your eyes closed during sun breathing, choose gentle early-morning or late-afternoon sun, practise for a few minutes, and move to the shade if you feel hot or unwell.
- Children should practise with an adult present. Senior citizens and anyone with balance concerns should use a sturdy chair or practise near support.
- You take part at your own choice and risk, and you're responsible for practising safely.
3. Using the website
You agree to use the website lawfully and respectfully. You must not:
- send false, misleading, abusive, hateful or unlawful content, or content that isn't yours to share
- pretend to be someone else, or register a community you aren't authorised to represent
- send spam, use automated tools to submit forms or copy the website in bulk, or try to get around our limits
- try to break into, disrupt or overload the website, the admin area or the Community Kit
We may refuse, remove or delete any submission or registration that breaks these terms.
Age. The website's information is open to everyone. Forms that collect personal details ask for your month and year of birth. Community registration and the contact form are for adults (18 and over); under-18s can take the pledge or share a story with their parent or legal guardian's agreement. Any guardian agreement you confirm must be true.
4. The pledge and the practice tracker
The SUN IT UP pledge is a personal commitment to yourself, not a contract, and you can stop at any time. The practice tracker keeps your progress only in your own browser; if you clear your browser data or change device, it can be lost. One pledge can be taken per mobile number. People under 18 need a parent or legal guardian's agreement, which they confirm on the form.
5. Community registrations and the Community Kit
- Colleges, housing societies, workplaces, clubs, senior citizens' groups, small groups and individuals can register. Registrations must be made by an adult (18 or over). We review every registration and may approve or decline it at our discretion.
- Approved communities receive a private link to the Community Kit. Keep it within your organising team. Don't publish it or forward it publicly.
- The Kit's videos, host guide and poster are for showing to your members, free of charge. Don't upload, re-publish, sell or edit them, and don't charge people to watch them.
- Screening reports must be honest. Badges, certificates, impact summaries and letters are based on what you report, and we may withdraw them if reports are false.
- We may switch off a Kit link at any time, for example if it has been shared publicly, the community asks us to, or these terms are broken.
- Each approved registration counts as a SUN IT UP ambassador. Being an ambassador is voluntary and unpaid, and doesn't make you our employee, agent or representative.
6. Content you send us
- Stories, photos and screening reports stay yours. By sending them, you give SUN IT UP a free, non-exclusive permission to use them for the purposes shown on the form: for stories, to publish them on our website and social media with your first name, age group and area. We may shorten them for length, correct spelling, or translate them, without changing their meaning.
- You confirm that what you send is true and your own, and that everyone recognisable in your photos has agreed to be photographed and shared (with a parent or guardian's permission for anyone under 18).
- We don't have to publish anything you send. You can ask us to remove your published story at any time through our Contact page, and we'll take it down.
7. Our content and brand
- Unless stated otherwise, the text, videos, audio, photos, illustrations and design of this website belong to SUN IT UP or are used with permission.
- SUN IT UP™ and the SUN IT UP sun logo are trademarks of Ritu Petkar. Don't use them in a way that suggests we endorse or partner with you without our written permission.
- You're welcome to share links to our pages, share your own pledge badge, and use the badges, certificates and posters we give you for their intended purpose.
- Surya Namaskar, its names and its traditional mantras belong to everyone. Our own explanations, recordings, videos and designs are ours: please don't copy them for commercial use without permission.
8. Other platforms and links
We use Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp to share videos and updates. Your use of those services, including our WhatsApp Community, follows their own terms. Please be kind and respectful in our community spaces; we may remove messages or members that aren't. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we're not responsible for their content.
9. Sessions and events
SUN IT UP doesn't promise sessions or events. If we announce one, its details may change or it may be cancelled; we'll try to tell people who signed up in advance.
10. Accuracy and availability
We work to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date, and we explain Surya Namaskar with respect for its traditions, which vary. We can't guarantee that everything is complete, correct or suitable for you, or that the website will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or remove any part of the website at any time.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, SUN IT UP isn't liable for any injury, loss or damage that results from using this website or practising what it describes, including if you practise against the guidance in our Health disclaimer, or from the website being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that can't be limited under Indian law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the website after a change, the updated terms apply.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts at Pune, Maharashtra. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve it.
14. Contact
